Conclusion
Here we are at the end of this "retro" article that is clearly not in the classical x86-secret domain. The idea to test this particular card has grown at the end of 2004 in our minds and we really liked to do this. By retracing the history of 3dfx which was a real revolution in the 3D market we hope that we could make (re)discover this part of the computer history to the one of you who were maybe too young to have lived it. It seems clear thet the performance of such a card is not the important thing, what was important to us is simply to have the opportunity to touch such a legend and see it animate some pixels was already cool. I want to thank Surrimugge and OutOfRange from www.3dfx.ch for their contribution to this article and for providing the card and CPUShack for his help with the english translation. If you want you can see 4 more high resolution pictures of the card.
Although the Voodoo 5 6000 is a real monster that would make you a center of attention at a lanparty, the card would not have been able to fight well a long time vis-a-vis to its competitors. The lack of T&L whould have been problematic very soon and the 4 GPU solution looks more like a desesperate rescue solution. It is with this card that an exceptional company died on 14 december 2000...
3dfx, gone but never forgotten...
